What is a legal system?

Contributed by StephenShaw and current to 27 July 2018

A Legal System is the complete social structure that makes, oversees and enforces those rules. The Australian Legal System is made up of a very wide variety of different entities, each entity having a different role in relation to the rules or laws. This handbook will look at some of those entities in detail, but does not provide an exhaustive overview of the whole system.
