Cite interviews that are published in journals or texts to the journal or text using the citation practice appropriate to that source.

The following rules apply to unpublished interviews.

7.3.2 Interviewee

Give the name of the interviewee preceded by “Interview with” and followed by a comma.

7.3.3 Position

Include the position of the person being interviewed.

Where the title of the person being interviewed is unavailable, include some description of the person’s position to indicate the relevance of the interview to the text.

7.3.4 Interviewer

The name of the interviewer is preceded by the left-hand, round bracket and followed by a comma.

If you conducted the interview, indicate this by writing “the author” as the interviewer.

It is unnecessary to name the interviewer if this is clear from the interview details (for example, the name of the programme on which the interview was conducted).

7.3.5 Interview details

Include either the details of the programme on which the interview was recorded or the city in which the interview was held (if the interview was not conducted for radio, television or an electronic medium).

If the interview was conducted for radio or television, include both the name of the programme and the broadcaster.

The interview details are followed by a comma.

7.3.6 Date

Give the date of the interview in full and followed by the right-hand, round bracket.

7.3.7 Transcript details

If a transcript of the interview was used, acknowledge the source after the interview details by giving the name of the transcript provider, followed in round brackets by the location of that provider.
