A worker who suffers injury or disease arising from their employment may have a right to payments under the
Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 (WA). In some cases they may also have a common law claim for damages for negligence against their employer or another party. In addition, workers who suffer work injuries or diseases may also be eligible for sickness allowance or Disability Support Pension, Newstart Allowance or other social security payment. It is important to note that in most cases where there are dual claims the worker may have to repay or account for money or benefits received for one claim when an additional claim is made.
